Summer '08 - Beyond Infinity - "TRACK OF THE WEEK"!!!!!!!!! - 27 June 2008
Hello peeps!
It's been...well... a bit long since my last update and actually this is a first
news update on my website/Journal.
I guess some things need explaining - I disappeared for 2 months after the Feb
gigs. Thanks to those who came to the gigs and apologies to those who came tothe
gig when I was sick and had to cancel. A first cancellation for me. hopefully
the last...
Why the silence? - well after deciding that a rethink was needed (playing gigs
in CH/ZH) I spent some time writing some new songs, thinking about how to move
forward musically whilst reaching a larger audience and preparing for a very cool
gig on the 27 August (in ZH) I decided to drop the band and play solo gigs until
I find people willing to invest energy and time into my songs. This has been a
contentious issue over the last couple of years and was bleeding me dry financially
so I cut the strings, saved my money for better things and took a much needed
break from the stresses of drummer egos, promoter drain, low self esteem live
venues (except Bühne-S, The Skunkroom and Barfussbar of course! 3 of my faves)
and realised I was getting my energy back - wow! miracles do happen.
I spent some time finishing a cool music course which occupied much time and also
thought about the future...
While all that was happening, the football euro started (and is almost over),
I missed "The Police" due to sickness (again), summer started and I'd
failed to notice that "T-Shirt Sweat" had been selected for Track of
the Day (GarageBand.com) on June 9th and even better... "Beyond Infinity"
had (as of 27 June) hit number 20 in the Alternative Pop Charts of GarageBand.com
(out of approx 250 songs) and was selected for "TRACK OF THE WEEK"!!!
for the week of the 30th June!!! It was also selected as "Track of
the Day" in the Pop Genre for the week of July 2 (huh? I didn't
even know it was in the Pop charts...) and reached 4 for the "Most Original"
in Alternative Pop for "all time" and "Most Original" in Alternative
Pop for the week of the 23 June ... I'm not used to so many compliments at once....
"T-Shirt Sweat" had merely been in the pool for 2 weeks
before becoming "Track of the Day" and rushed up the
Prog Rock Charts - It's currently at 37. "Breaking Waves"
stands at 66 (June27) in the Acoustic Charts (out of 692!!!!! hu.. hu? hu!) and
"Kids on TV" broke into the Top 50 and stands at 47 in the Alternative
Pop Charts of GarageBand.
GarageBand is a global chart system where musicians rate other musicians and I
am very happy and proud that my music is being received so well around the world
- Australia is ranking high on my "hit list" which is very cool - getting
great feedback from "down under" and have also sold a fair amount of
digital copies through Apple iTunes Australia... Now I need to get some gigs over
there... Other surprising hits to my Website have come from Iran and the US Military...
huh? Maybe "Kids on TV" and "Into the well" have struck certain
notes in certain places... or maybe someone accidentally typed www.philmccammon.com
- who knows...
Pen in this date:
27 Aug. 2008
